Route & Experience
The walking tour starts at Al-Hussein Bin Ali Square, one of Aqaba’s main waterfront landmarks.
From here, we begin exploring the city on foot, following a natural and relaxed route.
We first walk toward the Sharif Hussein Bin Ali Mosque, then continue to the nearby
Islamic archaeological area of Ayla, where Aqaba’s origins as a port city come into focus.
The route passes by the historic church area, highlighting the city’s cultural diversity,
before continuing through the downtown streets, observing local life and the modern side of Aqaba.
We then reach Aqaba Castle, which will be visited from the inside,
allowing time to understand its historical and strategic importance.
After the castle visit, we walk to the nearby Arab Revolt Plaza,
home to the iconic flag and a key symbol of modern Jordanian history.
From the plaza, we continue with a pleasant walk along the seafront promenade,
leading to the harbor area where the walking tour transitions into the sea experience.
The tour concludes with a 30-minute boat ride along Aqaba’s coastline,
offering panoramic views of the city and surrounding borders,
with visibility toward Egypt and Israel on clear days.
After the boat ride, we return to the starting point at Al-Hussein Bin Ali Square.
Optional: If you wish, you can extend the duration of the boat ride and add stops for snorkelling. Each additional 30 minutes costs 40 jod. Price per boat and not per person.
